Songoftheday: “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” by Esau Mwamwaya

Esau Mwamwaya, the East Afrian born traditional Malawian vocalist (on the cover of FADER issue 52) has been working with English producers Radioclit (Santogold, M.I.A., TV on the Radio, Buraka Som Sistema, etc.), and as well as the M.I.A. blessed track, “Rain Dance” (which leaked from their upcoming full length collaboration, The Very Best, feat. most of the afore-mentioned artists, as well as Vampire Weekend, The Ruby Suns, BLK JKS), this new re-working of Vampire Weekend’s “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” has recently made it’s way onto Esau’s page - and is arguably better than the original ::looks around, backs away, hides::, and will also be featured on the upcoming collab (due out on Ghettopop, who have got another track, “Mwazi,” streaming here).
I think that was all one sentence. Hope you followed. Esau and Radioclit also have a collab with Santogold on the Diplo/Santogold mixtape, Top Ranking.
Please - if you haven’t already, I beg you with all my heart - click on all of those links and listen to everything.
