Antony and the Johnsons Another World
A bit of a preview EP of the band’s upcoming album, The Crying Light. It features the first single from that record, “Another World,” which is a beautiful track with a very interesting video.
Deerhoof Offend Maggie
The indie band’s 9th full length on Kill Rock Stars. Deerhoof released their first single in sheet music format (for reals) and fans were able to record and submit their own versions (which you can listen to here).
Spinto Band Moonwink
The 6th record from the Wilmington, Delaware band. The first single, “Summer Grof,” will make my year end playlist.
Oasis Dig Out Your Soul
I was writing for an indie zine a few years ago, and I’ll never forget when they printed a review of a Black Eyed Peas album that read “Fuck the Black Eyed Peas.” That was it. No explanation what-so-ever. It aggravated me at the time, but I now completely understand.
The Streets Everything Is Borrowed
US release, one of the best albums of the year. Word.
Annuals Such Fun
Sophomore release by the North Carolina band. It reminds me a bit of The Shins, if they were British. With a touch of Death Cab. Which…doesn’t make sense. What can I say? This is just good indie rock. Key tracks include “Springtime,” “Always Do,” and the lead off single, “Confessor.” (cool video)
