There’s a lot of Whoas to be had in this one. As discussed last week, we were preparing to wait patiently for the arrival of some music from Tinted Windows. Taylor Hanson, Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne), James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins), and Bun E. Carlos (Cheap Trick) formed what many have already criticized to be a post-Jonas Brother-psuedo-supergroup sell-out with Hanson (who’s better looking than any Jonas) to lead the way to the top of the charts. I defended the project and was willing to hold off on my rampant opinion making until I had…you know, heard it.

With that said, I’m currently suffering through my second listen of “Kind of a Girl,” the first full track to surface from Tinted Windows upcoming eponymous album. Man, I really wanted to like this. I’m pretty sure that I’m still trying to, even though I can now say with perfect certainty that this is as bad as you imagined. Turns out the mega-pop duo of Hanson and Schlesinger resulted in way too many Whoa-oh’s, and a 5 second guitar solo that even Avril Lavigne would wince through. I’m normally all for this type of stuff, but this is too much.

The Jonas Brothers are a lot better than this.
