Help Finish A Kinks Documentary And Reunite the Band

Reporter Geoff Edgers’ is trying to get the Kinks to reunite and is filming a documentary about it called Do it Again. However, the project is low on funds and he is launching a campaign to collect donations via paypal. According to an apparent press release I found on Benign Girl, anyone who donates over $200 will get a production credit for the film. The documentary features interviews/impromptu Kinks covers with Sting, Zooey Deschanel, Brian Wilson, Paul Weller, and many more.

Based on the in-progress trailer above, this actually looks adorable and I would really like to see it finished. More info below:

Do you believe in helping in my bizarre but hopefully entertaining quest to reunite the Kinks - and to capture it on film? Or do you simply want to get your name on the thank you section as the credits of a film scroll down the screen? Here’s your chance. We’ve been filming my quest for almost year. We’ve filmed Sting, Zooey Deschanel, Brian Wilson, Paul Weller, Robyn Hitchcock, among others. But we need about $5,000 to finish filming and editing in the next few weeks. Anything helps! $2, $5, anything. And for $200, you’ll be listed in the credits.

You can paypal me at: gedgers@mac.com And thanks!

*Spoiler*
The Kinks won’t reunite on Edgers’ film.

For a real documentary about the Kinks, by someone in the know, check out:

That’s a link to Dave Davies’ documentary.

The reason Ray and Dave haven’t reunited isn’t because they don’t know that fans would be interested. The brothers have strong differences and Dave’s health is not very good.

While I’m sure Sting and Zooey Daschanel really are fans of the Kinks, I’d also be willing to bet they wouldn’t have talked to Edgers if they didn’t want his publicity in The Boston Globe.

While the trailer is well produced and edited (Robert Patton-Spruill is quite talented), I have no interested in seeing this film. Edgers is using other people’s fame in an attempt to get his own 15 minutes.

It strikes me as rather tongue and cheek, not to be taken so seriously. I also doubt Sting needs publicity in a city paper.
