[I wanted to do a post about the excellent new Thom Yorke song, so i Google him and decide to go to his Myspace page for a picture (I find it's the best place to get a good, recent photo). It tells me i have to sign in to see his photos. I haven't signed in to Myspace in weeks. I have messages, and photo comments (which, anyone who has Myspace knows is the most exciting thing that happens on there), so i look through those for a while. Then, I see that one of my top friends has a new default pic and user name ("Brian in China!"), so I click on his profile and look at his pictures of China, comment on one. I go back to the homepage and see a bulletin about Obama throwing like a girl, so I look up the All Star game to see his first pitch. I end up at Hoffpost. I read that for a while, comment on some stuff. 10 minutes later I'm looking at my computer wondering WTF i was doing and how i ended up angry at Pat Buchanan again.

Yorke, The National, Michael Stipe and many more extremely talented artists are contributing to a sort of tribute/benefit album for Former Miracle Legion & Polaris frontman, Mark Mulcahy, who recently lost his wife and is raising 3 year old twins on his own. The album, Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs of Mark Mulcahy, is due September 29 and will also see an additional 20 tracks released exclusively online. The Thom Yorke premiere of the extremely Yorked up cover of the Miracle Legion track, “All for the Best,” and complete tracklisting is at Stereogum.
