Songoftheday: “Generator ^ First Floor” by Freelance Whales
Freelance Whales self-released, debut album has been making appearances on some year-end lists around the internets, and, having never gotten around to the record, I’m clearing my best of the decade research schedule for the next hour to listen to Weathervanes – that is, if I ever get past lead-off track, “Generator ^ First Floor.”
The band hail from Brooklyn/Queens (yay to the outer boroughs), but their music lives somewhere between Funeral and Illinois, which as you may know is a pretty good place to be.
