New TV on the Radio “Dancing Choose”

Mog.com is streaming a leak of another new track, “Dancing Choose,” off of TV on the Radio’s upcoming third full length, Dear Science. From what I can gather between this track and “Golden Age” (the first official single off of the album), this record is taking a bit of a different direction as far as style, with both tracks being lighter, more concise pop songs than their previous efforts. Like “Golden Age,” this track is growing on me more and more with each listen.

New John Legend “If You’re Out There”
August 26, 2008, 9:50 am
Filed under: New Music | Tags: ,

John Legend performed his new track, “If You’re Out There,” for the first time ever last night at the Democratic National Convention. The political message is less corny than Will.i.am’s “Yes We Can” (and worlds away from Dave Stewart’s cheese-fest). You can watch a video of Legend’s performance from last night here, and download the song for free on Barack Obama’s website (or get it the old fashioned way…ya know, iTunes). The track will be on Legend’s upcoming third album, Evolver, which based on the first single alone is already a 9 out or 10.

T.I. New Track With Kanye West, Lil Wayne & Jay-Z “Swagger Like Us”
August 23, 2008, 4:58 pm
Filed under: New Music | Tags: , ,

Posted on Kanye West’s official blog, with the title “The Rap Olympic Team,” is a new Kanye produced track called “Swagger Like Us.” The song is from T.I.’s upcoming album, Paper Trail, and features a sample from M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes,” and ‘Rap Olympians’ Kanye, Jay-Z, and Lil Wayne. It was leaked on to the internet yesterday. Kanye loves that T-Pain a lot now, doesn’t he? Jay doesn’t need it.

T.I. already spoke to MTV about the leak, and apparently didn’t know about it. “That’s some bullshit. I’m beating down the Internet as we speak.”

Paper Trail is due September 30 on Atlantic.

New Q-Tip “Gettin’ Up” Off The Renaissance
August 22, 2008, 9:03 am
Filed under: New Music | Tags: , ,

On top of having the coolest website I’ve seen in a while, being in arguably the best hip hop group of all time, and being retarded fly, Q-Tip has a new album on the way. It’s his first since 1999’s Amplified (with the monster hits, “Vivrant Thing” and “Breathe and Stop”). The Renaissance, which features production by Kanye West, J Dilla, and The Neptunes, comes just in time for everyone to need another fix after hearing “Can I Kick It?” in The Wackness this summer. His new track, “Gettin’ Up,” is streaming on his myspace, smoother than milk chocolate, cooler than the other side of the pillow, etc.

The Renaissance is due October 14 on Universal.

New Streets Title Track “Everything is Borrowed”

Though these recordings don’t sound mastered (maybe it’s just me), The Streets’ Mike Skinner has added another great track from his upcoming fourth album, Everything is Borrowed, to his myspace page. The title track is a quintessential Streets beat, with more reflective lyrics and a few amazing one-liners; “just when I discover the meaning of life, they change it.”

Cookin’ Soul’s Jay-Z vs Oasis Mixtape OJayZis

Cookin’ Soul’s latest mixtape went up on HiphopDX and 2dopeboyz like 2 seconds ago, and I’m already reading comments on forums that it’s better than The Gray Album? :WACK: that was me cyber-smacking you. But hey…maybe it is. I’ve only heard “Wonderback,” and let’s just say I’m not ruling it out.

I suppose it was simply a matter of who was going to do this first.

New DJ Khaled Feat. Kanye West and T-Pain “Go Hard”

While I’m not big on DJ Khaled (”I”m So Hood,” you just missed Top 10 Most Annoying Hip Hop Songs of 2007), I almost kinda dig this new track from his upcoming album, We Global. Another vibrato verse for Kanye (and I’m OK with that), and of course, T-Pain=vibrato.

New TV on the Radio “Golden Age” off Dear Science

TV on the Radio still have awesome hair. Oh, and their new track, “Golden Age,” is currently streaming both on their website and myspace. Of course, the track is ridiculously good, but also very, very different for the band. It’s hard to say exactly what this reminds me of, but it’s mostly like a great Michael Jackson song off of Dangerous. Which, yeah…

The song loops if you keep the site open, and I have lost track of how many times in a row I’ve listened to it. Every minute is better than the last.

The band’s third full length record, Dear Science, is out September 23 on Interscope.

Oasis Streaming New Single “Shock of the Lightning”

Oh man, look at them. Oasis is back? I mean, Oasis is back. Their new album, Dig Out Your Soul, due October 7 on Big Brother, was produced by Dave Sardy (who has worked with a lot of bands you know), and you know…it’s Oasis. Loud, distorted power chords covered with Liam Gallagher’s exuberant Manchester accent; nothing they haven’t done before (or done better). Definitely Maybe will always make it OK.

New Single By New Kids On The Block feat. Ne-Yo, umm.. “Single”
August 6, 2008, 12:18 pm
Filed under: New Music | Tags: ,

Yes, it’s true. New Kids on the Block are back together. Now that I’ve gone through most of the ‘New Kids on the Block are back together’ stages of emotion – which included confusion, surprise, acceptance, excitement, disappointment, and denial – I’ve now come full circle and find myself back at confusion.

While the first single, “Summertime,” seemed to have done it’s job (whatever that may be) and was quite honestly not a half bad pop song, it was still a late-30-something boy band from 20 years ago grinding up against 18 year old girls in their videos (Joey yells “Jones Beach, 1988″ in the beginning of the track and it’s just…uh).

The point is, this new single is just…it’s not good folks. it’s not good. Produced by Polow da Don and featuring Ne-Yo, I thought maybe it would be ok. It’s New Kids on the Block, and I thought maybe it would be ok. EDIT: The beat is boring and the melodies are weak. The truth is, it’s New Kids on the Block, and it’s not ok.

You be the judge.

Thank Fader for the freeload.

New Young Jeezy, “Crazy World” Off The Recession

Jeezy recently leaked “Crazy World,” the ’speculated second single’ off of Young Jeezy’s upcoming third album. The Recession is due September 2 on Def Jam.

That’s pretty much it. The track is eh ok. I’m not that big a fan of the beat, but yeah, “this world keep turnin and my blood still burnin/same thing different day.” I prefer to put on for my city.

Excellent track produced by Cool & Dre from The Game’s upcoming new album, L.A.X., due out August 26 on Interscope. The track features a piano sample and some Lil Wayne vibrato, which, as I’ve already established many times, is awesome.

Thanks DBLL for the image and SDSU for the track.

Buraka Som Sistema Posted a New Track From Upcoming LP

buraka som sistema

Buraka Som Sistema, or BSS, have posted another new track on their myspace page from their upcoming Enchufada release, Black Diamond. “Kalemba” feat. PongoLove does not have “Sound of Kuduro” beat (that is still my favorite song/thing of 2008 thus far), but it may be the second most awesome thing created in the whole world this year (I hope it gets a video that is even half as good as this). The Portuguese DJ group is doing the festival circuit all summer through-out Europe. The album still appears to be tentatively due “summer of 2008,” but I still can’t find an official release date.

You can keep an eye on the Enchufada website here (and blog here).

common

Another new Common track off of his upcoming album, Invincible Summer. “Announcement” was produced by The Neptunes and features Pharrell. This is pretty straight up dirrty for Common, as he calls hip hop his “bitch” that “needs a dick.” Even Pharrell sounds completely unlike himself on this track. I didn’t like this at first but I cannot get the thing out of my head.

Verve Release First Single From Upcoming Album

the verve

As comforted as I am by a new Verve single, I have to say that “Love is Noise” is good, but not exactly great. The sample on the track is, to say the least, very strange and takes some getting used to. Regardless, I’m content with Richard Ashcroft singing over pretty much anything and am very excited for the release.

Four is set for August 19 in the states on Verve’s On Our Own label (18 in the UK on EMI).
