Makmende doesn’t wear a watch. He decides what time it is.

Electronic/pop band, Just a Band, based out of Nairobi, Kenya, spoof 70’s action films of various genres in their new video for “Ha-He” (former Song of the Day) from their Akwaaba debut, 82. The video features the character, Makmende, in a fictional film called “Makmende Returns,” and has become somewhat of an internet sensation in Kenya (and around the world) since the release of this video just a few days ago.

Directed by Jim Chuchu and Mbithi Masya, and starring Kevin “K1” Maina (a friend of the band) as Makmende, the video for “Ha-He” is being called the first successful viral campaign out of Kenya.

The band released an official statement regarding all things Makmende yesterday on their website.

Technically, this is the debut album by “Doom,” but, really, Daniel Dumile has released dozens of records under different names; including 9 instrumental albums. I’ve heard a few leaks from this record and I’m excited to hear the finished product.
