It's a function of marketing and payola radio promotion schemes. People will buy what they're familiar with. Clear Channel shoves the same 3 watered down rock bands into listeners' ears over and over. Most people are creatures of habit. They listen to the same stations and don't try too hard to discover anything new. These guys could be ANY marginal Battle of the Bands winner and with the same marketing machine you'd see the same results. Dumb fucking luck, really.
