Spent the better part of the afternoon listening to Benji’s B’s show from earlier today with Clams Casino. They played a bunch of great stuff including this remix of Battles’ ”Rolls Bayce” by Hudson Mohawke from the upcoming Dross Glop remix album of the band’s 2011 LP, Gloss Drop get it? Also The Field and Shabazz Palaces. Out now on Warp.
TVOTR’s Dave Sitek takes a stab at Norah Jones’ “After the Fall,” and it sounds like Norah Jones singing for Gorillaz. The remix was featured on a limited Record Store Day 7″ (along with “She’s 22″) and is also a free mp3. The original comes from Norah’s Danger Mouse produced Little Broken Hearts, out May 1 on Blue Note.
From Purity Ring’s upcoming 4AD debut, Shrines (due July 24), my favorite of the Canadian band’s baby library of tracks. Grab “Obedear” (no dictionary results) for free, below.
Seems like forever ago since Santigold’s name was Santogold, and it’s been almost 4 actual years to the day since her debut release. Master Of My Make-Believe was seriously worth the wait. The Karen O song is on there, Diplo and Switch produce, and “Disparate Youth” is still the best. Due May 1. Stream it.
Vampire Weekend’s Chris Baio makes a solo debut with “Tanto” feat. Matias Aguayo from the Sunburn EP, due May 21 on Greco-Roman. ‘We make colourful music because we dance in the dark.’
Nelly Furtado gives a lot of good advice in her new single “Big Hoops (The Bigger The Better).” Like when it comes to big hoops, the bigger the better guys. The Darkchild produced track is basically M.I.A. meets Rihanna with a drum and bass outro, which sure! Awesome. Nelly’s long awaited The Spirit Indestructible is due June 19 on Interscope/Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group.
