Johannesburg’s BLK JKS are probably somewhere practicing very hard right now for their performance at the World Cup opening ceremonies concert next Thursday. Their new EP, ZOL! BLK JKS “ZOL!” Soccer Track For World Cup Show, New EP
ZOL! EP, the follow-up to 2009’s After Robots, is just in time for BLK JKS (black jacks) performance at the 2010 World Cup Kickoff Celebration in their native South Africa June 10. The title track is, appropriately enough, about soccer, and is also the band’s best since the first incarnation of “Lakeside.” “ZOL!” is streaming [...]

BLK JKS Bicontinental Video For “Molalatadi”
BLK JKS debut full length, After Robots, may have been a little too anticipated for its own good, but “Molalatadi” is definitely one of its strong points. Their latest video is a bicontinental barrage of coolness that combines footage of the band in Coney Island and clips from a documentary about train surfing in their [...]

BLK JKS Perform on FADAR TV Open Bar in NYC
BLK JKS, the reggae/rock Johannesburg band that will hopefully put “Lakeside” on their upcoming full length (After Robots) so it can be on my 2008 playlist, recently graced the cover of Fader’s Africa issue and performed a special performance of their song “Molalatladi” for the magazine’s Open Bar series at Heathers in the East Village [...]
