Chris Martin Blows Up a Squirrel in New “Strawberry Swing” Preview
I’ve yet to confirm whether or not this is the same squirrel with the yogurt cup stuck on his head, but I’ll keep refreshing my reader and let you know if I hear anything. Coldplay’s latest video for Viva La Vida album highlight, “Strawberry Swing,” is set to premier next week on Babelgum, but you [...]

Coldplay and Everyone Else Cover “Billie Jean”
Coldplay were at the Rock Werchter Music Festival in Belgium over the weekend, and like most other touring musicians on planet Earth in the past week, snuck in a Michael Jackson tribute at some point during their set. Above, Chris Martin does a somber rendition of “Billie Jean” (thnx vdub), the best Michael Jackson song [...]

Songoftheday: “Glass of Water” by Coldplay
With the incessant fog, rain, and clouds of the past few weeks, I’ve inadvertently reverted back to my winter self. I’ve spent this time jogging to Radiohead records, and watching Coldplay Youtube videos of b-side performances. I’ve already described ad nauseam how I feel about Coldplay. So I’ll try my best not to repeat myself. [...]

So, Exactly How Many People Wrote “Viva La Vida”?
Above is Cat Stevens’ 1973 song ‘Foreigner Suite Part II,” or is it Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida?” Who knows, because apparently, Joe Satriani, Cat Stevens, and some band named Creaky Boards all wrote “Viva La Vida.” In 3 different decades. Funny how that happens.

Lady Gaga Covers “Viva La Vida” on BBC 1
Lady Gaga stopped by BBC Radio’s Live Lounge in the UK this morning, performing acoustic versions of “Poker Face” and Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida.” A few things. This is not bad. The lyrics changes are cute at first, but get a bit excessive towards the end; “Be my Chris and I’ll be your Gwyneth.” Hm. [...]

The Killers, Coldplay & Bono Play War Child Benefit
Speaking of… If you can survive the jumping up and down POV of the person who recorded this, this is a pretty poprok heavy performance of The Killers, Coldplay, and Bono singing my fav Killers track, “All These Things I’ve Done,” at the War Child Heroes Benefit in London last week.

Coldplay on 60 Minutes
Chris Martin would happily go in front of a camera and tell you that his band isn’t all that great. He would tell you that they are bigger than they should be, and that their enthusiasm, not talent, is what got them where they are today. This is how Coldplay gets you. As documented in [...]

My Poproks Live Grammy Post
8:12 The Rock says “Beatle Fighters.” I change the channel. This year, the Grammys actually managed to surprise me (I was 13 for 24 with my predictions – see list of winners). I had written off the Robert Plant/Alison Krauss collaboration as too predictable a pick for any of the awards, especially for a year [...]
