The Very Best Do “Julia” on Craig Ferguson
Esau Mwamwaya and his jacket (along with Johan Hugo and 2 dancers) perform The Very Best’s “Julia” from (2009’s??) Warm Heart of Africa on Craig Ferguson last night. Not sure why new member, MC Mo Laudi, and Etienne Tron (the other half of Radioclit) would miss this performance, but Esau holds down the fort here [...]

The Very Best “Julia” and “Angonde” Videos With New Member
The Very Best (Radioclit & Esau Mwamwaya, the warm heart of Africa) are back with a second, more official clip for “Julia”, which will be released as a 12″ single on October 5. The video stars the newest addition to the group, MC Mo Laudi, and, as always, an exuberantly happy Esau. Also below, a [...]

The Very Best’s Warm Heart of Africa, “Ntende Uli”
If i had to try and imagine what the warm heart of Africa would sound like, it would be Esau Mwamwaya singing over Radioclit beats. The bi-continental mash-up of the Malawian born vocalist and the British Dj duo is still by far the most interesting thing I’ve heard ever. The Very Best’s debut album, Warm Heart [...]

The Very Best Got Their Visa Visa Visa Visa
You may remember The Very Best from having the Songofthecentury and making my Top 10 Albums of 2008 as an honorable mention. Or, you might just remember them from being incredible.
The band, consisting of UK based DJ group, Radioclit, and Malawian born vocalist, Esau Mwamwaya (who sings better than God), are still working towards the [...]

Esau Mwamwaya on East Village Radio
Esau Mwamwaya of The Very Best (the band that released two SongsoftheCentury on last year’s groundbreaking self titled mixtape) paid a visit to The Fader’s East Village Radio show this week, and performed “Tengazako,” a psuedo-cover of M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes.”
I love this guy.

The Very Best Video For Kamphopo Filmed in Malawi
I’m still battling with the decision of whether or not I should have included The Very Best’s debut mixtape in my Top 10 Albums of 2008 (as opposed to the honorable mention it has now). The band recently added this video to their myspace, and changed their username to “THE VERY BEST – Kamphopo Video [...]

Songofthecentury: “Hide and Seek” by The Very Best
F*ck me.
This is called The Very Best for a f*cking reason. As I’ve mentioned before, Radioclit and Esau Mwamwaya have joined forces to create some of the most incredible, original music I’ve ever heard. GvB recently blessed my life with a leak of the band’s first mixtape (officially out Nov. 1). “Hide and Seek” is [...]

Songoftheday: “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” by Esau Mwamwaya
Esau Mwamwaya, the East African born traditional Malawian vocalist (on the cover of FADER issue 52) has been working with English producers Radioclit (Santogold, M.I.A., TV on the Radio, Buraka Som Sistema, etc.), and as well as the M.I.A. blessed track, “Rain Dance” (which leaked from their upcoming full length collaboration, The Very Best, feat.
